Little Rock School District Teachers will get a $1,135 pay increase across the board, following approval of the recommendation by Arkansas Education Commissioner Johnny Key. Key serves as the District's Board of Directors. The increase, which is equal to approximately a 3% increase in the starting teacher salary, will be in effect for the 2019-20 school year.
LRSD's administration made the recommendation for the increase after reaching an agreement with the Little Rock Education Association earlier this week. The increase is made possible by Governor Asa Hutchinson's commitment to enhancing teacher salaries and the passage of the Teacher Salary Enhancement Act, HB 1145.
This increase also creates an estimated ongoing commitment of $2,621,275 and will raise starting teacher salaries from $34,865 to $36,000. All employees will retain the annual "Step Increase" for the 2019-20 school year.
