LRSD Offers Additional Support to Families
Little Rock School District families who are impacted by the federal government shutdown may immediately apply for the free and reduced-priced meals program. Families who would not ordinarily qualify for the program could be eligible because of the current loss of income. Families may apply online: http://www.myschoolapps.com or call LRSD’s Child Nutrition Department at 501-447-2456.
“The Little Rock School District is committed to meeting students’ nutritional needs,” said Superintendent Mike Poore. “We understand that this is obviously a stressful time for many of our families, so we want to do all we can to assure them that we care and are here to help.”
In addition to a range of free and reduced price meals, LRSD also offers breakfast in the classroom to all students, as well as a backpack program that allows students to take meals home. Little Rock School District also implemented the Bright Futures program, designed to meet emergency needs of families using a social media platform, within 24 hours.
