Welcome to Elementary Education
The Elementary Education Department is responsible for the smooth operation of all elementary schools. There are 33 school campuses that serve about 13,000 students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grades. The Department organizes quality and relevant training and professional development for the elementary principals.
Ms. Washington has 24 years of experience in the Little Rock School. She has served all of those years as an administrative assistant in the Elementary and Secondary Departments.
Dr. Mitchell has 32 years of experience in the field of education. In addition to supervising all elementary principals, Dr. Mitchell has been elected for the past eight years as the Chairperson of the Magnet Review Committee which is the board that consists of representatives from the Arkansas Department of Education, North Little Rock School District and the Pulaski County School District. The MRC Board governs the operations of all Stipulation Magnet Schools (Parkview, Mann, Gibbs, Booker, Williams and Carver).

The Elementary Education Department works with the Superintendent, Associates Superintendents, and School Improvement Specialists to provide additional resources to principals and schools in an effort to increase student achievement. During the 2010 school year of the 30 elementary schools met Average Year Progress (AYP). The Department facilitates elementary after school and summer programs.
